GlossyBox December 2012 - Canada

This months GlossyBox was a sliver box for the Holiday season normally it's light pink. And the ribbon was sliver as well, it's also normally the same pink colour.

In This GlossyBox I received:
~Tressemme Fresh Start Volumizing Dry Shampoo 161g/$5.99 (Sample Size). I haven't tried this product yet.

~Aveeno Ultra-Calming Daily Moisturizer SPF 30 75ml/$22.99 (Full Size)  I've only tried this product once so far, but I felt it was really mositurizing.

~Aveeno Positively Radiant Tinted Moisturizer (Fair to Light) SPF 30 75ml/$22.99 (Full Size) I also only tried this product once as well, but I really liked it. I like it more than my Garnier bb cream I found it had more coverage than the bb cream. And it doesn't have a fragrance like the Garnier bb cream has. But it does have that sunscreen smell to it though, which I don't mind.  The Ultra-Calming cream listed above has the same sunscreen smell to.

I know I've only used the Aveeno tinted moisturizer once but I wasn't a huge fan of the Garnier bb cream the fragrance kind of bothers me and maybe because I have an oily skin type it just doesn't look nice for a long period of time on my skin. It's okay but I wouldn't repurchase it. Where as the Aveeno I just might, but of course I'll have to try it a bit more. Maybe I just think I like it more because its new...hahaha
Not a huge Favourite of mine
~Avon SuperShock Liquid Eyeshadow  .145 fl.oz (Full Size)
this product on www.avon.ca doesn't seem to be in stock anymore, and the price seems to be unavailable. So far I've tried this product twice, it's alright. I find its a good eyeshadow base.

~Revlon Nail Enamel colour in Endless Possibilities 15ml/$5.99.  I've yet to try this product.

~GlossyBox Lashes $12.50/pair. I haven't tried this product yet either.

~Tressmme Split Remedy Sachet(sample size). I have tired this product and I thought it was good, nothing really special though.

~And you also got a pair of earrings, which aren't pictured because...I lost one, on the first day I got them. Classic. But they were pretty cute.

Overall I thought the December box was really nice, and it seemed like you got more products in this months box than the previous boxes.

If Your wondering what GlossyBox is it's a monthly subscription on beauty products. It costs $21.00 a month and you get around 5 beauty related products each month.

If you want to learn more about it this is their website http://www.glossybox.ca/

Age of the Zombie

My Prediction Zombies are going to be the new "Vampires"

Of course just like many other people (girls) recently I to had to see the newest Twilight movie, Breaking Dawn part 2 the final conclusion to the saga.  One of my favourite things about going to the movies is the trailers before the show.  To my surprise (a good surprise) there were TWO! zombie movie trailers. I couldn't believe it, first one was Warm Bodies which is a book that was published in 2011 by Isaac Marion, and is now going to be a feature film set to be released February 1st 2013.  It's a story about a zombie that falls in love with a human, and learns to presumably love again (oh my doesn't that seem familiar) the trailer though is really cute so you should definitely give it a watch. Warm Bodies is now on my book wishlist for sure, along with another one that is similar in the zombie love theme called Dearly Departed by Lia Habel published in 2011. Dearly Departed seems to be not only a zombie-esq book but also kind of steam-punk themed as well, because it is set in the future yet the main character is supposedly a young Victorian lady (that's steam-punkie right?)

The Other movie trailer I saw was World War Z. Also set to be released June 21st 2013, and is also a book published in 2006 by Max Brooks.  I was going to buy this book quite a few months back, but then I sort of forgotten about it till after seeing the movie trailer at the Breaking Dawn part 2 movie.
At first the trailer almost seems like a regular war movie then you get to see a horde of zombies cluster together to try and scale a huge wall. So then your like oh! I get it now its zombies silly me thinking it was a regular ol' end of the world movie.  The movie to me looks really interesting seems like it'll be a good action/suspense movie that I'm really looking forward to seeing.  Also Brad Pitt is in this one which is pretty darn awesome.

There is also the extremely popular show out now called The Walking Dead which aired in 2010- and is still ongoing.  That show is more scary in a more gory and also a psychological way. The Walking Dead of course started out as a comic book which I'm sure all of you know already it was published in 2003 by Robert Kirkman (a veteran in this new era of zombie) and is currently on vol 17. I do think that this series in particular was the start of the zombie craze that is now infecting every media outlet.

There is now a Walking Dead video game which was released in April 2012 you can download it and I believe purchase it in disc form in December, that follows more of the comic book world. It even has comic book like art work as the design.  Now there seems to be another Walking Dead video game in production, but this one follows Daryl (the shows fan favourite) and Merle (his grumpy unsocial brother). They are both from the TV series and the game is before they met "the group".  Not much as of yet is really released for that game other than a teaser trailer.  Many other new video games are coming out like ZombieU for the WiiU (still not sure what I think of the WiiU yet) that was just recently released the game is a first person shooter. It has been getting quite a few positive reviews though which is nice.

In my opinion the whole zombie thing is AWESOME! I love everything to do with supernatural and fantasy, but I guess I do worry that it to may get over done like in Twilight's case. Now vampires kinda seem like a joke which is a shame because there are so many great vampire films out there and video games and books. Not that Twilight is necessarily a horrible book series but it did bring a certain attention back to vampires again. That attention being both positive and negative all at once. The vampire theme will die out again, its a natural thing for all themes in media. Zombies are already hugely popular so did they already replace "vampires"? For creatures that horde together and destroy all human life around them. They did a good job just sneaking on by under our nose. With great timing as well with the end of the vampire age. But do you think zombies will end up just like vampires and not seem scary anymore? Because of this zombie love theme now coming out in books and movies?

Hello!

With all the excitement of starting a blog, I just jumped right into a movie review without introducing myself first, very sorry about that.

My name is Nicole, nice to meet you and thank you for reading my blog. Hopefully we can talk about books, movies and maybe even the occasional video game with each other.  That is the reason after all why I started to blog or more like aspire to blog.  I'm still learning how this all works after all.

Originally I wanted to create a YouTube channel or (BookTube) channel because I love watching YouTube videos on what people are reading, the reviews and what new books people got.  That I thought I could totally do that as well.  But sadly when I made "practice" book reviews I didn't feel like I was myself so that is a work in progress.  Maybe one day I'll make a video and be confident enough to post it but till then I'll be here just a typing away.  My friend actually suggested blogging to me, I never thought I could do it because I'm not a very good writer.  My grammar skills are horrible and I'm not a very good speller either.  I will try my best to make sense but in reality I won't.

I hope to start reading the Host soon by Stephenie Meyer, since it is going to be made into a movie after all so I got to know what its all about. I know I'm a little late to start reading this book. But I wasn't sure if it would be something I'd like on a side note: my goodness it looks massive! Totally could kill a zombie with that book. I'll have to remember that just in case for a zombie apocalypse.

For movies I'm so looking forward to the Hobbit I know its a ways away (well not that many ways anymore really) but still the excitement is in my heart.

I started watching American Horror story,  oh my goodness it scared me but I love it.  Season two just started and even though I've only seen two episodes of season one I still watched the season premiere anyway what a risk taker I am.  Nothing got spoiled or anything I believe its kinda like a prequel of sorts.

Lastly for video games on the Xbox 360 I'm so looking forward to Assassins Creed 3, till then I'm playing Darksiders and get ready for it Pokemon White 2 ooooh my goodness cool kid right here.

Thank you once again for reading my blog
Hope you have an Awesome! day

Movie Review Time: Hotel Transylvania

Hotel Transylvania

Tells the story of a Vampire dad Dracula to be exact, and his 118 year old daughter Mavis's birthday. He is throwing her a huge birthday party, but all Mavis really wants is to go outside of their "Monster Hotel" and see what the world is like for herself. Dracula wants to protect his daughter like most fathers but can be a bit over protective. The world is a scary place for a monster because of the dreaded humans that lurk around every corner. Dracula just wants Mavis to understand that Monsters and Humans can't live together. He does let her see the outside world by letting her explore a near by village. But the "Humans" do not take a liking to her and she goes crying back to Daddy, because he was right all along. Dracula's guests start to arrive and everything is going according to his plan once again now that Mavis's dream to leave the hotel is gone.  But then an unexpected guest arrives a human dun dun dun! And Dracula is now in panic mode to hide the human from everyone but most importantly his daughter Mavis.

Now on to the Review part:

Like most movies the trailer does tell you a lot of the funny moments of course, so some punch lines weren't as funny. But that is bound to happen especially with movies that are geared more towards a younger crowd they tend to over play them on TV. Not to worry though there are still some funny surprises in the movie. The character that made me laugh the most would have to have been Dracula(Adam Sandler)he interacts with most of the cast making him more of the main character than Mavis(Selena Gomez)which surprised me.

There were a lot of cute parts at the beginning of the movie between Dracula and Mavis. I think those parts were my favorite parts of the whole movie lol. Like Dracula and Mavis's bat form, oh my goodness soooo cute. But Mavis and Johnny's(Andy Samberg) friendship had some really cute moments as well. Just not as many friendship/love interest building moments that I thought would've happened. For the majority of the movie Johnny had to hide his identity (which makes sense) but his character had more involvement with Dracula than Mavis because of that reason.

It's definitely a good Halloween/October movie but i don't think it's going to become a "classic" sadly. For me it was missing a little something and I'm still trying to figure out what it was exactly.

Rating 7/10

Side Note: I thought it would've been cool if they played Hotel California but switched it up to match Hotel Transylvania. But that did not happen. lol
